Teaching Higher Biology including the new syllabus and CfE
Cours date coming soon
This course is aimed at new teachers or teachers seeking new ideas or specialist support. The workshop has been expanded to incorporate CfE (Curriculum for Excellence) to help all teachers become comfortable in adapting present practice. It promotes understanding of SQA arrangements and investigates ways in which H Biology can meet the requirements of national initiatives. Hands-on sessions are included which are designed to improve delivery of lessons. Participants share ideas, explore techniques and work as a team to verify standards of marking. The new Content Tables for SCQF level 6 (Higher) and Arrangements Documents will be included in the course. Previous participants have said this is the best course they have ever been on. We intend to continue in this vein by preparing to teach the new CfE in the same manner.
Participants should bring relevant Arrangements Documents and current SQA External Assessment reports (formerly known as PA and SV reports). A memory stick is advised to allow you to take information away, and many participants suggest that SCHOLAR passwords are useful when we look at ways of delivering courses.
Previous attendees have commented:
'very useful, good day, very relaxed and informal but informative'
'was good, lots of useful things to go over'
