Business Education & Administration

 

Anne Bradley has been a Principal Teacher of Business Education, Staff Tutor for ICT, Development Officer for Higher Still, and since retiring from full-time teaching in 2003, has delivered training nationally in all aspects of IT for Administration. She has also delivered training on Higher Business Management and co-authored a book, ‘Higher Business Management – Grade Booster’. More recently Anne has been involved with providing training for Curriculum for Excellence for Business Education subjects and is a member of the Subject Working Group for Administration National Qualifications.  Anne is presently Senior Examiner for Intermediate 1 and 2 Administration.

 

Using Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 - for Business Education

This course will concentrate mainly on the differences between Office 2003 and Office 2007/2010 - Access, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.  The main focus will be on the requirements of Administration and IT at all levels (basic to expert) and will be a completely hands on workshop format.

Teaching Higher Administration (Using MS Office 2007 and 2010)

Providing advice on the delivery of the Higher ITFM (word processing, database and spreadsheet) element of the course (using MS Office suite 2007 and 2010). It has been updated in light of the 2011 paper and the updated NABs.

The course will include elements from the SQA Understanding Standards website to come into line with significant changes to ITFM Marking procedures. There will also be advice on delivery of the Admin Services (paper 1) – with special emphasis on SQA standards.

Success in Teaching Higher Business Management

With a view to boosting exam grades in Higher Business Management, this course will concentrate on the content and delivery of Business Management and internal assessment including:

  • Refining course content
  • Use of case studies in classroom
  • The importance of using command words in homework and NAB practice
  • The course will also include elements from the SQA Understanding Standards website to come into line with standardised marking procedures and practical advice on timing and delivery of the Higher Business Management course.

    In addition the course will also include a review of classroom/homework techniques to improve extended writing to boost grades in external assessment.
