Close Reading Higher English - UPDATED COURSE
Monday 5th March 2012 09.30 - 15.30 £159 plus VAT This course focuses mainly on the teaching of Close Reading skills in both narrow and broad contexts. There will be ample opportunity to practice the accurate application of Marking Instructions to examples of students' work in Close Reading. There will also be a session on the Writing Folio, looking at strategies for enabling students to develop skills in this area.

Critical Essay Higher English - UPDATED COURSE
Wednesday 29th February 2012 09.30 - 15.30 £159 plus VAT This main focus of this course id the Critical Essay in Higher English and aims to equip teachers with a clear understanding of the choice and spread of texts for teaching and assessing this element of the course. There will be ample opportunity to practice the assessment of students' work in accordance with national standards. There will be a session on the Writing Folio, looking at strategies for enabling students to develop their skills in this area.

Advanced Higher English Textual Analysis - UPDATED COURSE
Thursday 8th March 2012 09.30 - 15.30 £159 plus VAT This main focus of this course will be on the preparation of students for the Textual Analysis Option in the Advanced Higher Course - with emphasis on prose fiction and poetry. There will be a session on the Dissertation - especially on the choice of task - with some examples for assessment.
