This course is aimed at teachers who are new to delivering Higher Modern Studies and experienced teachers who are seeking an update on SQA requirements and assessment skills. The course will relate to contemporary national initiatives, provide practical classroom advice and cover a range of topics designed to enhance the teaching and assessment of Higher Modern Studies.

Topics will include:

• SQA conditions and arrangements,
• structure/content of SQA examination,
• SQA improving standards,
• practical advice/group-work activities/discussion on assessing higher essays (including NABs),
• practical advice/group-work activities on assessing the Decision-Making Exercise (including NABs)
